The InterContinental Changsha understands space is a luxury, so the Executive, Junior, Deluxe, Honeymoon and Presidential suites are expansive, with a distinct separation between the living room areas (study, dining room and pantry) and bedroom(s). The standard guestrooms were inventively designed to make them feel larger. The desks, inspired by a Murphy bed, are built into the wall and function as a desk and dining table. Rather than a standard sofa or club chair, Wilson Associates implemented a two-piece chaise lounge that can be separated into a pair of club chairs as needed.

One of the key differentiators between a four and five-star hotel is the bathrooms. The InterContinental Changsha bathrooms are immaculate. In fact, most of them feature stand-alone Jacuzzi tubs that look out over the river. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the bathroom feel boundless. The bathrooms in the Honeymoon and Presidential suites include steam showers in addition to the standard rain shower, and even the shower head is bigger than anything Changsha has seen before. They are also decked out, floor-to-ceiling, in specialty marble, which reiterates the concept of seamless luxury.

They are seen as complements and foils, which creates a layered design aesthetic.
