ID:在中国做设计与其他的地方有区别吗？如果有的话是哪些？

 

Tim: Design in the East has been historically different to design in the West. Over the centuries and more so in recent decades the gap between the east and west has narrowed, contemporary design in the east and west are beginning to homogenise. For me, the beauty in the world is to be found in the different ways people live in it and, how people have defined the way they live, through community, language, currency, creativity, etc. l hope there will always be differences between countries; it is the idiosyncrasies of a culture, it’s characteristics and peculiarities that help shape the outcome of design.

译：从历史的角度讲，东方的设计与西方的设计很不一样。在过去几个世纪，特别是在近几十年内，当代东西方设计开始趋于同质化。对于我而言，世界之美应该是在不同人群的生活方式中发现，而生活方式是我们通过群体、语言、货币、创意等方式来定义的。我个人希望国家之间始终存在差异，因为设计的结果是通过文化的特质来塑造的。

 

ID:您作为Gensler上海办事处的室内工作室总监，您觉得这里最吸引人的地方是那些？

 

Tim: The multi cultural diversity and the richness of the personalities we work with in the studio. We currently have 8 nationalities working together and that leads to an interesting design perspective and solution dynamic.
